Tips
• Rubber soles will absorb more shock and be more comfortable then leather…if you have a great pair of leather soled shoes, have a rubber pad put on them, the shoe will last longer and be easier on your foot.
• Have metal taps put at the toes of your shoes, it will keep them from wearing down to quickly, especially pointed toed styles.
• If flats are hard on the arch, get arch supports, or heels inserts that lift and support your foot better then a purely flat shoe will.
• Heel pads can really prevent blisters in stiffer shoes, and also keep your foot from slipping around.
• Leather shoes will stretch; wear them around the house on carpeted floors a few times before wearing them out in the real world, if they don’t become comfortable then they stilol can be returned.

Maximaizing your wardrobe: taking care of your clothes

Don’t have a wardrobe full of disposable clothes, in the long run you are wasting money and cheap clothes tend to look cheap quickly.
Instead find high quality clothes, even if the price point is a bit higher and learn to take
care of your clothes properly.
care of your clothes properly.
This will maximize your wardrobe!
You don’t have to clean everything after every wear, In fact too much cleaning can shorten the life of your clothes, especially things that need dry cleaning, all the chemicals can do more harm to
your garments then not. Wear things a number of times before cleaning them.
Dry-clean all the separates of an outfit together. Otherwise one piece will fade at a faster rate than the others.
Three or four times a year is sufficient for dry cleaning a suit however, the finishing and pressing process can do some serious damage to the fabrics over time.
It's a good idea to Launder whites after every wear. It’s tempting to put a white blouse
back into the closet after a spill-free wearing. After all, it looks spotless.
But "body oils and perspiration, along with other time-released stains (like perfume, white wine, and oil splatters), will start to give a once-bright white a yellowish tint," Light-colored cottons are vulnerable to noticeable spots. Zap smudges between washes with instant stain remover. Don’t over wash darks. Black pants, in particular, can be worn several times before laundering. For best results when you wash, run darks on a short cycle in cold water and let them air-dry.
Blot any stains, since rubbing will create a lighter spot.

Beware of over drying things in the dryer. Excessive heat makes fibers brittle, causing the fabric to break down. Since Most of the damage is done in the last 10 minutes of the drying, try taking out the lighter weight garments that are usually dry first. Also try putting your cvlothes through the delicate cylcle in the dryer or on less heat, this will also minimze the stress on the fabrics that heat from the dryer causes.
Zip up to avert snags. Next time close all zippers and clasps before tossing clothes into the washing machine (or, better yet, the hamper).
With stain-resistant fabrics, you can get away with an extra wear or two. Never use fabric softeners or dryer sheets, as they diminish the effectiveness of the fabric.
Remember, the better you take care oif your clothes, the longer they will last, and this will maximize your wradrobe!

Power of Clothes

Those that know me, know that I am not your stereotypical fashionista. I try very hard to be authentic and genuine and honest in my profession.
But I do love fashion and I love the way clothes can make you feel.
I love how clothes can transform people’s perception of you, but even better how clothes can transform your own perception of yourself!
Ones whole being is tied up with the self image you have of yourself. The mental picture you carry in your head of who you are. The picture is usually clothed, how you choose to clothe the person in that picture says a lot about how you truly see yourself. A fairly simple way to improve yourself image is to simply dress yourself up!
Enjoy clothes; feel the power of a wonderful outfit, of fabulous garments and enjoy yourself in those clothes. Once you can embrace this improved self image you’ll be surprised at how quickly others embrace your new image as well and their perception of you will also alter.

5 steps to Creating a more organized closet.

One of the biggest New Year resolutions is getting more organized.
Why not start with your closet?
Here are 5 easy steps to help make it happen!
1. Start simple: Get everything out of your closet that is not directly related to your clothes. If it is not a garment or an accessory it belongs somewhere else.
2. Pull everything out that you have not worn in the past year. Set these aside to assess later. The more room in your closet the easier it will be to see everything and the easier it will be to organize.
3. Everything that you decide to keep should go on uniform hangers. If your closet has limited space use tiered hangers for pants and skirts to save space, but if you have the space, make sure everything is on its own hanger. (Even if two things go together, like a sweater set or a cami and sheer blouse, keep them on separate hangers that can hang off each other so they don’t get separated.)
4. Divide your closet by sections; each section is a different level of dress. The specifics will depend on your lifestyle on what most of your clothes are for. If you have distinct work clothes and distinct weekend clothes then those are two sections in your closet. If you work out a lot that may also be a section.
5. Each section should be then organized by color, type of garment or outfits; again, how you choose to do this depends on what makes the most sense to you.

The Well-Balanced Wardrobe
Fill your closet with wardrobe essentials from five basic "clothing groups” and you'll never again ask "What should I wear?"
Like good nutrition, if you apply variety, moderation, and portion control to what you choose for your closet, you'll have a well-balanced wardrobe that makes the process of getting dressed effortless.
“Load up on your basics, go easy on the patterns, and indulge in one showstopper for special occasions. “

“Load up on your basics, go easy on the patterns, and indulge in one showstopper for special occasions. “
The wardrobe pyramid:
- The Basics: (about 20 pieces) this should be the bulk of your wardrobe including simple cotton tops, jeans, khakis, solid sweaters and shirts. These should all fit and be neutral solid colors. Don’t forget functional accessories like shoes & belts

- The Staples: (about 12 pieces) Staples are made up of a suit (or two), good neutral dress pants, quality skirt and basic dress for women, a separate jacket, good business shoes, boots, a practical bag, and a coat. The staples should also fit well, be neutral colors in solids or classic patterns and textures like tweed and herringbone. Of all the pieces in your wardrobe, the Staples should be the highest quality, they should dress up or dress down easily.

- The Statement pieces: (about 10 pieces) these are often decorative, they can include an unusual jacket, a creative skirt, unforgettable tops and show stopping pants. Don’t forget great jewelry and accessories like scarves and unusual shoes in this category. For Men a watch can be a real WOW factor. Statement pieces take any plane outfit to something special. These pieces are colorful, have unusual details in the silhouette or pattern.

- The Evening Standards: (about 6 pieces) any of the pieces from this category should be able to easily “dress up” a look: a top, skirt/pants, simple cocktail dress, jacket/embellished cardi, shoes, purse, and a cover up. For Men tuxedo like pants and a sport coat of finer fabrics are musts in the category. A cuffed shirt with dressy cuff-links would be a great addition too! These pieces are all made of luxury fabrics like velvet, silk, lace or satin, they may have sparkle or shine to them and are usually darker neutrals but could be any color.

- The Show Stoppers: (about 2 pieces) These only need support from the staples: a jaw dropping cocktail dress, an evening suit, shoes to- di –for, an extraordinary wrap. These must fit perfectly, be expensive looking, and ideally are unusual in design and detail.

Maximaize your Wardrobe - One new piece; a range of new looks!
Maximizing your wardrobe while still feeling current and fresh can be hard.

An unusual top with updated color or pattern is a great way to update and add to a wardrobe. Wear it under a suit or a separates, with jeans, or tuck it into a skirt and finish the look with a sophisticated belt.
A dress in a chic silhouette can take any wardrobe up a notch or two. A dress can be an easy and a great look all on its own, but paired with pieces you already own it also adds to whole new looks. Add a belted cardigan; put a jacket on over the dress, tights and boots will look completely different than pumps or sandals. Some dresses even work as tunics over skinny jeans or leggings.

Don’t be afraid to add to your wardrobe, just be thoughtful and make sure the piece you choose will work into the wardrobe you already have in numerous looks.
The idea is to use every piece in your wardrobe wisely and to its most diverse potential. So, without abandoning your entire closet every season and buying a completely new wardrobe, you need to be thoughtful about what you are going to add, to stay fresh.
The trick is to find great pieces to add to a current wardrobe
that can instantly add a new twist to many looks you already have!
A great jacket with modern detail instantly changes any look: it should work with jeans, dress pants, a skirt or over a dress. Choose a neutral color if you have a lot of color in your current wardrobe but if your current wardrobe is mostly neutrals, be bold and pick something with color for a statement!
