New Years Sparkle!

Kate Spade New York
Rag and Bone Tuxedo Blazer

How to create Holiday Sparkle with one great Piece:

     ·         A sequin Skirt:

wear with dark tights and boots the same color.  Complete the look with a neutral blazer and a bit of sparkle by the face in earrings, or with a hair accessory.

     ·         Sparkling Jacket:

A jacket with dress pants is always classy.  Try pairing a sparkle jacket  with satin pants.  Keep the rest of the outfit simple with classic accessories!

       ·         Pant Bling:

pull the eye up to your face by matching the    bling on the pants with bling around your neck line or your eyes with dazzling jewelry!

       ·         Make it about the Accessories:

If your accessories sparkle then keep all the focus on them.  Try the classic LBD (little black dress) with sparkle shoes and a fabulous cocktail ring!

sparkle can be tricky: you want contrast without conflict

Metallic Pants

http://citygurlsecrets.com/trending-metallic-pants/

Liverpool Jeans Company

I'm truly in love with Metallic pants right now
...it took me a while to warm up to them, they seemed like a bit too much this fall,
but now, in the heart of the Holiday season...they are perfect!

Dress them down with a simple cardigan or deck your self out with a great sparkle encrusted top and those metalic jeans!

Try pairing your metallic pants with a lace top to add a femenine twist to the trend.

Metallic pants are also fun with all the Fur and leather trim that is so popular right now

Thanksgiving Style

M by Missoni
What will you be wearing for this year?

What’s your day going to be like? Where will you be eating dinner?

Are you spending the day cooking in the kitchen with the family, followed by an informal dinner packed around the house?
Are you perhaps joining in with a gathering of friends for a fun social dinner and festivities?
Or are you going out to dinner at a fine restaurant for a more formal evening?

Sanctuary printed Jacket and jersey dress
Here are three different outfits that will work for the Holiday centered around a delicious meal and enjoying the company of loved ones.

For a more formal dinner a dress with a bit of character makes the evening special.  Try something with a harvest feel to it, this is a Holiday after all!

Lucky sparkle jeans
Top Shelf Blazer
For a dinner at friends, making an effort to look nice is respectful to your hosts, but make sure you are dressed comfortably, especially in the waist band! Try a whimsical piece matched with knit.  Add jewelry but not the fussy pieces that get in your way:

Phillip Lim floral print sweater
Beatritz Ombre Carigan
Cara Accessories stretch bracelet

Free People Cardigan
For an informal affair, have fun with your outfit, no matter how casual.  Jeans are great, but wear your nicer pair, have fun with your top, layers add depth to your ensemble and will cover you no matter what you end up doing.  Keep your accessories simple but with character.

Packing for a Thanksgiving Holiday trip

The Gap
Thanksgiving is just around the corner!

Statistically this is one of the busiest times of travel for Americans.

The airports can be a nightmare and the trip to and from your destination can damper the enjoyment of seeing loved ones.

Make your trip this Thanksgiving as seamless as possible; be prepared, and pack your suitcase as smartly as you can so you can travel light, getting in and out of the airports as smoothly as possible.

Most Thanksgiving travels are a 4 – 7 day trip, you don’t need to take your whole wardrobe with you:  for a 7 day trip, 15 garments in a small suitcase should be all you need.

Think about what you’ll be doing; most of the time is spent with family in a casual environment.
This is a trip where jeans, sweaters, and boots are primarily being worn.
Take one outfit that could be dressed up if everyone decided to get formal for the big day, but most of your suitcase should be used for clothes that could be dressed down if everyone decides on a family game of touch football.

The Gap

I suggest using this list as a packing guide:

·         2 pairs of casual bottoms (like jeans)

·         1 other bottom, (like dressier pants or a skirt)

·         4 casual tops that can be layered

The Gap
·         1 dressier top that will also go well with jeans

·         3 heavier tops like sweaters, vests or jackets

The Gap
·         1 outerwear coat

·         1 boots

·         1 pair of midi-formal shoes

·         1 pair of athletic shoes

Don’t forget of course, your accessories and undergarments!  (Pieces like scarves, hats and gloves in colder cliements are also vital.)

This should all fit in a carry-on size suitcase effortlessly so you, with one bag can get around those overcrowded lines and through painful airport security with ease.

Happy Travels and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Rain Chic

Rain has a certain mystique about it; just think how romantic Paris is in the rain!

Practically, rain does seem to put a damper on everything, especially your attire.  But you can look like you just stepped off a street in Paris if you dress rain chic….

You need to be thoughtful about your ensemble; it needs to be the perfect marriage of functionality and style.

A great, waterproof trench is always a perfect choice, what could be more chic?

It is important that a trench, or any other choice of waterproof coat, must fit well completely closed up, a detachable hood is a good choice for practice reasons, and the hem should fall to the knee or longer to really keep you dry.

On the style side, your coat should be classic and stunning…but not be too loud in the statement it makes, you do not want to be yelling to the world every time you walk out the door.  Saying that, there is nothing wrong with choosing a cheery color like yellow or orange.

If you do choose a bright color to make your rain chic look pop, keep the style simple and pair it with understated accessories.  For instance a yellow rain coat could be very chic paired with navy boots and a navy scarf.

Accessorizing your rain attire is where you can really express yourself: boots, a scarf, a rain hat and an umbrella can all have a little personality!
Rain boots these days have almost as much to say as the rain coats, they can be classic and understated, glamorous and playful, or bold and bright.

Just remember to edit your look.  You only need one rain piece to make statement; the rest can just support your look.

The secret to looking good in the rain is to keep things simple and bold.

And of course have all the right rain gear at your fingertips.
